Prewar Lionel # 55 Airplane with control tower

Flying through the air is a prewar Lionel # 55 Airplane. This was Lionel's attempt to capitalize on the public's growing interest in 1930's air travel.The plane is tethered to the large red and gray pylon (control tower), which houses the motor that drives the plane's propeller.
