A Lionel # 397 Coal Loader is next to the track in this photo while a # 456 Operating Coal Ramp is just behind it. A special operating hopper car carrying coal is backed up onto the ramp. At the touch of a button, the coal exits the bottom of the hopper and drops down into the dark red tray. The coal is emptied into the bright red loader tray via a trap door in the dark red tray. At the touch of another button, the coal moves up the coal loader ramp and falls into a hopper car. Photo taken September 2005.
