Lionel Motorized Drawbridge Prototype
A Lionel # 14180 Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Tugboat waits for the drawbridge to open. From the Lionel archives, this is a one-of-a-kind Motorized Drawbridge prototype made by Lionel Trains Incorporated (LTI) between 1986 and 1995. The mechanisms that raise and lower the two spans are from a bascule bridge. The spans are made of Hell Gate bridge parts. The bridge base, superstructure and towers were made specifically for this prototype. The bridge was never cataloged or put into regular production. There is a video of this bridge in operation on my website.
