Kusan Mexican Alco Locomotives

National Railways of Mexico El Azteca Alco

Kusan Mexican production National Railways of Mexico, The Aztec, Alco A unit. Lettering and graphics were applied using decals. This silver locomotive came packed in a two-piece plain white box.


National Railways of Mexico El Internacional Alco

Kusan Mexican production National Railways of Mexico, The International, Alco A unit. Lettering and graphics were applied using decals on a yellow and dark gray painted plastic body.


National Railways of Mexico Alco

Kusan Mexican production National Railways of Mexico Alco A unit. The orange molded plastic body was painted green and yellow with stamped white lettering.


Chihuahua al Pacifico Alco

Kusan Mexican production Chihuahua al Pacifico Alco A unit. The white molded plastic body was painted blue and yellow with stamped black lettering.


Southern Alco

Kusan Mexican production, catalog number LF-02, powered Southern Alco A unit. The black molded plastic body has a yellow painted hood and stripes along with stamped yellow lettering. LSF-02 is the non-powered Southern Alco A unit catalog number. There is a "Juguetes Kusan Mexicanos" sticker on the bottom of the locomotive.


Southern Alco prototype

Kusan Mexican prototype Southern Alco A unit. Both the powered and non-powered units were painted flat black and yellow. The powered unit was painted on a white molded chassis, while the non-powered unit was painted on a red molded chassis. Compared to the production model above, a narrower font was used for SOUTHERN. New Haven Alco

Kusan Mexican production powered New Haven Alco A unit. The black molded plastic body has painted red and white stripes along the sides with stamped red and white lettering. A red and white NH decal was affixed to the front of the locomotive. There is a small rectangular "Mexico" sticker on the bottom of the locomotive.


New Haven Alco with high stack

Kusan Mexican production powered New Haven Alco A unit with a high stack. The stack was raised on this locomotive to accommodate a higher profile motor. The black molded plastic body has painted red and white stripes along the sides with stamped red and white lettering. A red and white NH decal was affixed to the front of the locomotive. This powered unit was paired with a non-powered New Haven Alco A unit with a normal stack (see photo below).

Burlington Alco - side view

Kusan Mexican production non-powered Burlington Alco A unit - side view above and front view below. The black molded plastic body with marbling is painted silver. Note the silver painted horns. A Burlington Route decal is affixed to the front of the locomotive. No side decoration. It's unknown if this was a production unit or an unfinished work in progress.
