Lionel Prewar 455 Electric Range

Lionel collectors will often seek out non-train Lionel items to display in their train rooms. This is a prewar Lionel # 455 Electric Range made in the early 1930's. It has a working oven and two burners. The range also has the original Lionel cookware, which included a muffin tin, wooden potato masher, pot with lid, frying pan and tea kettle. A close-up of the range logo may be seen here.
Though not prewar, underneath the stove is a wood case containing a postwar Lionel 454 Construction Kit. The kit was made by Lionel to compete with Gilbert's famed erector sets. The Lionel kit was not as successful as Gilbert's.
